2017-2018 Season:

"Listen Bigger, Experience More"

CMR's 2017-2018 will mark a leap forward in the organization's growth. Beginning in September, the North Carolina Museum of Art will be home to CMR's two concert series: the Visiting Artist Series and the NC Artist Series

The season is marked by a celebration of regional and national stars in chamber music, cultivating community partnerships, and listening bigger to the world at large.

September 17- Lara Downes/Alexander Bernstein: "Anniversaries for Lenny"
Acclaimed pianist Lara Downes (CD: America Again, Exile's Cafe) will present a program of Bernstein's "Anniversaries for Piano" along with 20 newly commissioned Anniversaries on the occasion of the composer's Centennial. Downes will be accompanied by Bernstein's son Alexander who will provide narration to the works.

*October 13 (Friday the 13th)-Mallarme Chamber Players and NCMA Film Series presents "The Cabinet of Dr. Calgari"; 8pm

Get your spook on this Friday the 13th as the Durham-based Mallarme Chamber Players provides live musical accompaniment to the silent horror classic "The Cabinet of Dr. Calgari". Presented in partnership with NCMA's Fall Film Series.

October 29- Juilliard Quartet

Chamber Music Raleigh was the Quartet's first stop in the 1950s when the group decided to begin touring. Now, with two new players, they are returning "home" for a concert of Haydn, Dvorak, and Bartok. 

November 19-UNCG Faculty Voice Duo
NCG faculty members Donald Hartman, Clara O'Brien, and Jim Douglass perform select songs in this inspired program. 

January 21- Isoscele

The premiere performance of a newly-formed string quartet featuring Bartok, Caroline Shaw, and others.

February 11- Duchamp/McKenzie Duo

Flute/Piano program focusing on the French influence on American music. Featuring Chamber Music Wilmington Artistic Director Barbara McKenzie and acclaimed musician Nicholas Duchamp.

*March 2017- Spring Soiree, Afternoon TBA

Chamber Music Raleigh will host its first-ever Spring Garden Party Soiree. Featuring a mini-concert by North Carolina artists followed by an outdoor social atmosphere, this soirée will give audiences the chance to meet the season's NC Artists, CMR staff and board, and fellow arts lovers from around the state. 

March 18- American Chamber Players

Led by former NPR Morning Edition host Miles Hoffman, the critically lauded American Chamber Players will return to Raleigh for an exciting, diverse program. 

May 13- Symphony Winds

CMR favorite Symphony Winds will return to the Museum stage to perform again featuring works by North Carolina composers and more. 

May 20- The North Carolina Viol Consort

Led by UNC-Chapel Hill faculty member Brent Wissick, the North Carolina Viol Consort will have its premiere performance on the CMR season.
