Chamber Music Raleigh presents national touring artists and North Carolina regional artists performing chamber music of the highest caliber.  CMR celebrated its 75th season in 2016-2017, and looks forward to a bright future.

We are seeking a half-time Executive Director with solid management skills.  Because the responsibilities of the Executive Director include booking and contracting artists, organizing concerts and educational outreach activities, and writing grants for CMR funding. a knowledge of chamber music is essential.

The Executive Director (ED) will work closely with the Board of Directors to manage strategic and operational aspects of CMR’s programs in order to execute its mission.   What follows is a brief description of this multi-faceted position.

Artistic and Management Responsibilities include:

  • Booking and contracting artists and venues

  • Maintaining  programmatic excellence

  • Effective coordination of finance and administrative matters.

  • Communicating with the Board in a timely way in artistic and budgetary matters

  • Engaging with CMR’s nonprofit volunteers, committees, partnering organizations, and funders to advance the organization

Fundraising and Communications Responsibilities include:

  • Expanding local revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support program operations

  • Grant writing to maintain current grants and to seek new grants

  • Raising awareness of CMR in the Greater Raleigh area using all forms of communications media

  •  Outreach to audience, donors, and community organizations 


  • Experience in non-profit or arts management leadership

  • Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising ability

  • Successful record of grant writing

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a talent for interpersonal relations.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups of people
